The company I work for participates in Relay For Life every year. Gwinnett holds the largest Relay For Life in the entire country! I highly recommend it to families. It's free admission, kids have a blast and all proceeds go to the fight against cancer. We had a great time walking the track, eating great food and spinning multiple wheels for prizes.
Chris's dad died of cancer when he was 9 years old. Relay For Life is a great way for us to pay tribute to Chris' dad and the short life he lived.
When it gets dark, the entire track is outlined with candle luminaries. There is a moment when everyone stops what they are doing to pay their respects to those who have been diagnosed with cancer. Relay participants that have been effected by cancer hold candles and walk the track as a group following a bagpipe player. It is an emotional moment and I couldn't help but to let a few tears out.But it's not all tears and seriousness. Boston had a great time winning fabulous prizes and posing for fun pictures. We've never taken Boston to a carnival but after this experience, it is apparent that he would enjoy it.
I'm grateful to work for a company that participates in such a wonderful cause.
